A Day of Keeping South Florida Cool – Life as an HVAC Tech
6:00 AM – Rise and Shine
The day begins early at Kelvin Comfort Air Conditioning. After my morning coffee, I check my work tablet for the day’s service appointments across West Palm Beach and surrounding areas.
7:30 AM – First Call
My first stop is in Lake Worth Beach, where a family’s AC unit isn’t cooling properly. Florida summers are unforgiving, so these calls are always priority. I perform a thorough diagnostic check, finding a refrigerant leak that needs immediate attention.
10:00 AM – New Installation
Heading to Greenacres for a complete system installation. The homeowners have opted for a new energy-efficient unit. These installations typically take several hours, requiring precise measurements and careful attention to detail.
2:00 PM – Emergency Call
A business in Boynton Beach has a malfunctioning heater. Though less common in Florida, maintaining heating systems is just as crucial for those occasional cold snaps.
Key Tasks Throughout the Day:
- System diagnostics and repairs
- Equipment installation
- Maintenance checks
- Client education on system operation
- Documentation and paperwork
5:00 PM – Wrap Up
Before heading home, I complete my service reports and prepare for tomorrow. Working at Kelvin Comfort Air Conditioning means ensuring our South Florida neighbors stay comfortable year-round, and that’s what makes this job rewarding.
Remember: in our business, every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our community stay cool and comfortable in the Florida heat.
