A Winter Day in the Life of a HVAC Service Professional
5:30 AM – Rise and Shine
The day begins early at Lambert Heating & Air Conditioning, especially during the peak winter season. After my morning coffee, I check the day’s service appointments across Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities.
7:00 AM – First Call
My first stop is in Brandon, SD, where a family’s furnace decided to quit during the night. These emergency calls are common when temperatures drop below freezing. I arrive to find their unit needs a new blower motor – a fairly routine repair that we always keep stocked in our service vehicles.
10:30 AM – Scheduled Installation
The next job takes me to Harrisburg, where we’re installing a new heating system. These installations typically require:
• Removal of old equipment
• Installation of new furnace
• Ductwork inspection and modification
• System testing and calibration
2:00 PM – Maintenance Visits
The afternoon consists of preventative maintenance calls in Tea and Hartford. These regular checkups help prevent those midnight emergency calls that nobody wants. I inspect:
• Filter conditions
• Electrical connections
• Heat exchangers
• Thermostat functionality
4:30 PM – Final Service Call
My last stop of the day is in Crooks, where a homeowner needs their annual furnace tune-up. These routine services are vital for keeping systems running efficiently through our harsh South Dakota winters.
6:00 PM – Wrap Up
Back at the shop, I complete my paperwork and prepare my truck for tomorrow’s calls. Another satisfying day helping our neighbors stay warm and comfortable in their homes.
Remember, regular maintenance is key to preventing those unexpected breakdowns during the coldest days of winter. At Lambert Heating & Air Conditioning, we’re always ready to help keep your home comfortable, no matter the season.
